Gill Mathurin

Gill Mathurin is AIDS-Free World's Director of Communications. She has spent a decade working in non-profit communications, with a focus on HIV, sexual violence, and humanitarian issues.

Gill oversees communications for AIDS-Free World and its Code Blue Campaign, including websites, social media, print and video materials, and media outreach. She has organized press events in Canada, the US, South Africa, and Kenya.

Before joining AIDS-Free World in early 2013, Gill spent six years with the Stephen Lewis Foundation, raising the profile of grassroots organizations working to turn the tide of HIV and AIDS in Africa.

As a consultant with UNICEF’s Office of Emergency Programmes, Gill researched and wrote about a range of humanitarian issues, including children and armed conflict, sexual and gender-based violence, food security and the protection of civilians.

A recipient of the President’s Entrance Scholarship at Carleton University in Ottawa (Canada), Gill earned a Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement upon completion of her interdisciplinary BA (Honours) in Religion and World Affairs. She holds a Masters degree in Political Science from Carleton University, and was awarded an Ontario Graduate Scholarship and the Carl Jacobsen Peace Prize for her work on conflict resolution.
